Lufthansa Technik Canada (LTCA) has completed its first live LEAP-1B engine event at its interim facility in Calgary, marking a major milestone in the site\u2019s ramp-up and confirming its operational readiness.<\/p>\n
The company said the achievement underlines the facility\u2019s role as a key partner for LEAP-1B engine services in North America.<\/p>\n
The interim site is now fully operational with eight bays, enabling scalable engine maintenance activity while work continues towards LTCA\u2019s permanent base at Calgary International Airport.<\/p>\n
Two training engines are also currently in the shop to support ongoing build capability and readiness as operations continue to expand.<\/p>\n
The successful completion of the first LEAP-1B engine event \u2013 LTCA\u2019s core specialism \u2013 is intended to demonstrate the technical maturity of the Calgary operation and its ability to deliver reliable, high-quality support for North American customers.<\/p>\n
Max Schramm, president and chief executive of LTCA, said: \u201cWith the successful completion of our first engine in Calgary, we are further strengthening our LEAP-1B capabilities in North America. This milestone reflects both the strength of our network and the dedication of our local teams \u2013 delivering value closer to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Derrick Siebert, vice president engine services at Lufthansa Technik<\/a>, added: \u201cBringing the Calgary facility into live operation is a further step in strengthening our global network for LEAP engine services. It allows us to support our customers in the vicinity of their operation with consistent, high-quality services while remaining responsive to evolving customer needs across the Americas.\u201d<\/p>\n Since announcing Calgary as its headquarters in February 2025, LTCA<\/a> said it has grown to more than 80 employees. The company also passed its Transport Canada Civil Aviation audit in December 2025, which it said confirmed its regulatory compliance and operational standards.<\/p>\n Operations will continue from the interim site while development progresses on LTCA\u2019s planned 150,000sq ft permanent engine maintenance facility, being developed in cooperation with Calgary Airports.
