The resulting volatility has clouded prospects for the peak summer travel season, prompting many carriers to scale back planned capacity. Ascend said reliability issues linked to early\u2011production engine configurations had affected aircraft performance, leading to higher maintenance demands and reduced availability. These technical constraints have further undermined operational flexibility at a time of rising costs and tightening margins.<\/p>\n<p>Although Ascend has only operated for two years under its current ownership and Type A licence, the airline\u2019s origins date back to 2004, when it was founded as Synergy Aviation.
