MAB Engineering has doubled its maintenance capacity at Kuala Lumpur\u2019s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) following the commissioning of its new Hangar 4 airframe maintenance facility.<\/p>\n
The MRO provider, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said the expansion forms part of a 15-year lease agreement with Impeccable Vintage Properties Sdn Bhd (IVP), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.<\/p>\n
According to the company, the new facility marks a strategic expansion under MAG\u2019s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, launched in December 2025, aimed at creating a more efficient and resilient maintenance operation while strengthening Malaysia\u2019s position as a regional aviation hub.<\/p>\n
Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, president and group chief executive of MAG, said: \u201cThis expansion not only doubles our maintenance capacity at Subang, but also enhances our ability to serve both MAG airlines and international customers more effectively.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs demand for high-quality MRO services continues to grow across the region, Hangar 4 positions us to compete more strongly, support Malaysia\u2019s ambition as a regional aviation hub, and deliver greater long-term value to the Group and our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The additional capacity will support both Malaysia Airlines and Firefly fleets, while also expanding third-party MRO opportunities. MAB Engineering<\/a> said approximately half of the facility\u2019s capacity is allocated to internal fleet requirements, with the remaining 50% dedicated to external customers.<\/p>\n Previously limited by Hangar 1, which could support only two maintenance lines, the new Hangar 4 facility enables simultaneous operation of four lines.
