{"id":2345,"date":"2026-06-08T09:40:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T09:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zephyrsys.us\/index.php\/2026\/06\/08\/iata-agm-2026-diversity-and-inclusion-pioneers-honoured-in-annual-awards\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T09:40:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T09:40:13","slug":"iata-agm-2026-diversity-and-inclusion-pioneers-honoured-in-annual-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zephyrsys.us\/index.php\/2026\/06\/08\/iata-agm-2026-diversity-and-inclusion-pioneers-honoured-in-annual-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"IATA AGM 2026: Diversity and inclusion pioneers honoured in annual awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The winners of the annual IATA Diversity and Inclusion Awards were announced at the organisation\u2019s AGM in Brazil this week.<\/p>\n<p>Rania Alturki, executive vice president human resources at Saudia Group, was named Inspirational Role Model:<\/p>\n<p>The High Flyer award went to Fiona Omondi, chief strategy officer, Tradewinds Aviation Services and co-founder of Women in Aviation International, Kenya<\/p>\n<p>And the third award for Diversity and Inclusion Team was awarded to LATAM Airlines Group, the host carrier for this year\u2019s AGM in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Karen Walker, editor-in-chief of Air Transport World and chair of the judging panel, said: \u201cDiversity and inclusion give opportunities for the broadest of talent pools to build long-term, sustainable careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, it brings airlines even closer to the diverse communities they connect to global networks. Congratulations to the winners of this year\u2019s awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey demonstrate the many ways that the aviation industry is growing stronger by advancing diversity and inclusion best practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Willie Walsh, IATA director general, added: \u201cAviation competes for talent. In that context, the IATA Diversity &amp; Inclusion Awards inspire the industry with great examples of the many initiatives underway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a strong signal to anyone considering working in our amazing industry that there are opportunities without boundaries for all to build rewarding careers in aviation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is particularly encouraging to see the growing number of women in roles in the cockpit, on the ground in maintenance and engineering roles and in the CEO\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is still much more progress to make, but it\u2019s important to pause and recognize the changes that are happening and those that are leading the charge.
