Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rolls-Royce for 18 Trent XWB-97 engines to power nine additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft as the carrier advances its long-haul fleet expansion.<\/p>\n
Announced at this week\u2019s Farnborough International Airshow, the agreement also covers engines for up to five additional A350-1000s under the airline\u2019s purchase rights.<\/p>\n
Alongside the engine order, PAL has selected Rolls-Royce\u2019s TotalCare service, which will provide health monitoring and maintenance support for the growing fleet.<\/p>\n
The agreements form part of the airline\u2019s fleet modernisation programme, supporting its strategy to operate a modern, fuel-efficient and reliable long-haul fleet.<\/p>\n
The Trent XWB-97 is the exclusive powerplant for the Airbus A350-1000 and is designed to deliver high levels of fuel efficiency, reliability and environmental performance.<\/p>\n
Lucio C. Tan III, president and chief operating officer of PAL Holdings, Inc., said: \u201cThis investment manifests our confidence in the future of Philippine Airlines.
