FedEx is set to become the launch customer for the world\u2019s first ATR 72-600 passenger aircraft converted to a freighter configuration, following a definitive agreement signed with regional aircraft lessor ACIA Aero Leasing.<\/p>\n
The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in December 2025 and will feature the Large Cargo Door (LCD) modification \u2013 developed in partnership with ACIA\u2019s sister company IPRC.<\/p>\n
The deal marks a significant milestone for the ATR freighter market, with ACIA Aero Leasing\u2019s conversion programme representing the first speculative investment in converting the -600 series passenger variant.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs market leaders in the ATR pax to freighter conversion, we wished to reaffirm our position in this segment by delivering the world\u2019s first converted 72-600 LCD,\u201d said Mark Dunnachie, senior vice president of commercial at ACIA Aero Leasing. \u201cIn partnership with our sister company IPRC, we are delighted to work with FedEx, the world\u2019s largest operator of ATR freighters, as the launch customer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dunnachie added that the aircraft will incorporate specific enhancements tailored to FedEx\u2019s operational needs: \u201cThese technical enhancements will continue to set the standard for the best regional freighter solution in today\u2019s market.\u201d<\/p>\n
The aircraft will also feature a rear flip door, enabled by IPRC\u2019s recent acquisition of the M7 Aerospace design rights. This feature is intended to maximise loading flexibility and overall cargo efficiency for operators.<\/p>\n
