The airline is looking to support young Brits \u2018not in employment, education or training\u2019 (NEET) as part of its annual cabin crew recruitment drive<\/p>\n
One in seven people aged 16-24 in the UK are currently classed as NEET, the highest level in 11 years, with youth unemployment up 5.2% vs last year. The airline\u2019s own research shows that a lack of experience and uncertainty around career options are the top reasons holding back young Brits from applying for jobs that interest them.<\/p>\n
It also showed that 92% of 16-24 years olds are unaware of the education requirements needed to become cabin crew \u2013 a key barrier to many considering a career in aviation.<\/p>\n
READ:\u00a0Ryanair to hold flight attendant career open day<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The airline is set to recruit nearly 1,000 new cabin crew for 2026 as part of its annual recruitment drive, and is encouraging young adults and school leavers, many of whom will be looking for their next step after receiving their A-level results at the moment, to consider applying.<\/p>\n The research revealed that 89% of young men believe there is still a misconception that cabin crew is typically a role for women. As a result, around a third (38%) British men say they previously wouldn\u2019t consider doing the job because of the traditional gender stereotypes around the role.<\/p>\n Michael Brown, Director of Cabin Services at easyJet, said: \u201cWe want to show young people that being cabin crew is more than just a job \u2013 it\u2019s a career filled with variety, teamwork and opportunity, which has so much to offer to so many people as well as offering a pathway to progress in working within our wider industry too.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you have enthusiasm, people skills and a willingness to learn something new, our taster sessions could be the perfect first step towards a new opportunity.
