American and Mastercard extend exclusive travel rewards deal

American Airlines has renewed its long-standing partnership with Mastercard, extending the companies’ nearly four-decade collaboration to deliver enhanced travel experiences and advanced payment solutions for AAdvantage® co-branded cardholders.

Under the renewed agreement, Mastercard will remain the exclusive payment network for American’s co-branded credit cards, with both companies pledging to deepen their commitment to personalised customer experiences, rewards innovation and payment security.

“American is proud to collaborate with Mastercard to deliver best-in-class travel solutions for our AAdvantage® co-branded credit cardmembers,” said Robert Isom, chief executive of American Airlines. “Together, we are rewarding our mutual customers with travel experiences that make their journeys truly special.”

The extended partnership will see American leverage Mastercard’s payment infrastructure, analytics and fraud protection technologies to optimise transactions across the travel journey – from booking to boarding. The collaboration will also enable more personalised offers and streamlined reward redemptions for AAdvantage® members, who will now have greater opportunities to access Mastercard’s suite of Priceless Experiences.

Michael Miebach, chief executive of Mastercard, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with American Airlines and the nearly 40 years of priceless experiences, benefits and innovation the program has brought to cardholders. Looking to the future, we’ll continue to bring our expanded suite of products and services to deliver what cardmembers want: personalised offers, valuable rewards, fraud protection and opportunities to explore their passions.”

Through the ongoing partnership, cardholders will continue to benefit from curated rewards and elevated travel privileges. These include exclusive events, VIP access, and one-of-a-kind cultural experiences designed to surprise and engage frequent travellers.

As American and Mastercard look ahead, the companies say they will remain focused on delivering seamless, secure, and rewarding journeys for today’s global traveller – blending technology with tailored benefits to ensure each trip is more than just a flight.
