JAL selects Recaro R2 for upcoming B737 MAX 8 order

JAL (Japan Airlines) has announced that it has chosen Recaro R2 economy class seats for its upcoming B737 MAX 8 fleet.

Each seat has been specified with USB Type A & C ports as well as a personal electronic device holder.

The R2 also features ergonomically designed cushions and customised dress covers tailored with the Japan Airlines design. The airline has also opted for an integrated headrest.

This milestone highlights the strong partnership between Japan Airlines and RECARO.

The R2 has been recognized for its excellence in design, with the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. In 2025, JAL presented the “Best Seating Supplier Award” to RECARO.
